LGBT+ History Month 2021

For LGBT+ History Month in the UK this February, the School of Geography at the University of Nottingham have been holding a social media campaign (on both Twitter and Instagram) with members of staff and students submitting the reasons that they share their pronouns with others.

The question Why do you share your pronouns? has been asked to a range of people and voluntarily answered. My response was...

The campaign will be continuing throughout the month over on the @UoNGeography Twitter page with more staff and student submissions from within the department being posted and the previous submissions still available.

It is really important that these small changes are made to be inclusive and respectful of all people, and it really doesn't take long. You can simply add your preferred pronouns to you email signature, social media bios, and blogs. By undertaking this small act you are letting people know that you respect and value their pronouns which is hugely important for creating a respectful working environment, and world more generally.

It has been a lovely, yet simple campaign to contribute to, with thanks to the Geography EDI Committee for organising and posting these responses. Its also been nice to see the idea being taken up in other departments at the University. You can also find out more about the events for LGBT+ History Month here
